Positive Behavioural Support Plan (PBSP)

What is Positive Behaviour Support? Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred framework for providing support in a situation where there is (or there is risk of) challenging behaviour. ‘Challenging behaviour’ is persistent behaviour that puts the physical safety of people at risk or that causes difficulties and limits a person’s ability to have a good life.

The Behaviour is called ‘challenging’ because it challenges everyone who supports the person to understand why it is happening and to work together to find a solution.

At care community coordination, we have extensive experience in PBS, including training of support workers and the development of plans. With our approach, we consider all aspects of the person, their support, and their environment.

Things we can provide are:

  • a multi-disciplinary team of therapists.
  • a therapy provider with vast NDIS experience and know how.
  • a professional, coordinated, high-quality provider of therapy services.
  • a mobile service.

Our Experience and Expertise includes:

  • Delivery of tailored training in positive behaviour support plans.
  • Liaising with health and medical specialists.

  • Comprehensive assessment to identify the purpose of challenging behaviour.

  • Writing and implementation of positive behaviour support plans that explicitly aim to improve quality of life and reduce challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge, experience, and adherence to requirements of legislation regarding restrictive practices.
  • Holistic interventions to assist the person, family, and support staff.

  • Understanding that positive behaviour support requires consideration of all aspects of a person’s life and environment.
